Imelda Karangwa is an Engagement Manager with Chartis. She has more than 8 years of experience servicing leading healthcare payers on enterprise transformation, integration strategy, and operational performance. She brings expertise in healthcare IT, government-sponsored programs, and managed care operations partnering with clients to translate complexity into actionable results.
Imelda’s recent engagements include work with one of the largest national government-sponsored health plans, serving over five million members, to redesign the provider onboarding experience. She has developed end-to-end operational workflow that improved efficiency, enhanced provider satisfaction, and reduced administrative burden. Most recently, Imelda supported integration of Health Plan operations in the acquisition of one of the largest national Medicare Advantage (MA) businesses, representing over $3 billion. This effort involved aligning leadership across both legacy and acquiring entities to drive Day 1 operational readiness. Imelda collaborates with organizations to identify critical dependencies, mitigate integration risks, and design joint execution plans to ensure continuity business operations.
Prior to joining Chartis, Imelda was a consultant with one of the nation’s largest professional services firm. In that role, she advised state and federal healthcare agencies on Health Information Technology (HIT) initiatives, Medicaid managed care policy and operations, Medicaid waiver program design, and the modernization of systems and processes at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), including VA-purchased care.
Imelda holds an MBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Policy and Administration, with a minor in Sociology, from The Pennsylvania State University.
